I didn't take away "several" games, or even two. Just ONE game. Somehow I don't think that most guys, you take away ONE game out of the 60 or so he played and his SLG drops by about .100. The rest of the year he batted like an anemic grandma (power-wise). He just didn't hit for power (well, he did at Coors, but nowhere else). He *does* have speed and gets the doubles, he can go 1st-to-third on OF singles. If he were even a moderate defensive CF, he'd have a spot. But as it is ...

I guess my opinion is that of the "young", cheap OFers that we have, he's the one I'd let go first (and wouldn't miss him).

Re: Do we want more of this??
I'd have to agree with Marco. Begrudginly
One thing I've noticed is that many, not all, but many Giants fans are reluctant to trade ANYONE, no matter who the target is. You gotta pay to play.

personally, Rajai Davis would be the first one to go for me. No power whatsoever and he's really a CF, but that position is pretty much taken care of for the next five years (ugh). I know he's put up nice OBP numbers, but I like a leadoff hitter who's able to hit for extra bases. Singles hitters that steal bases don't really impress me.
I wonder if teams would have an interest in Brian Horwitz. He's put together some pretty solid numbers, turns 26 this year and is blocked as can be. I know he doesn't have the HR power of a typical corner OF, but he's always taken walks and been quite a double machine. He's also got a little glove time at 1B before Ort took the spot.

Re: Rajai
I can hear what you're saying. I was really hot on him after his first couple of weeks as a giant, then I saw him play 2 games against the Reds, where he was pitiful at the plate. They threw mostly off-speed slop at him and he played like Pedro Feliz. He couldn't recognize the crap floating outside or dropping to bounce on the plate. And I remember thinking "Hmmm. The Reds play in the same division as the Pirates. Is this what Rajai is going to look like after everybody in the NL West knows how to pitch to him?"
I favor Rajai over Freddy because of his glove. Rajai is decent and can properly fill in in CF. Lewis is a defensive liability at every position. Now, if I belieed that he would be puting up an OPS of .900 or better every year, I'd be for keeping him. But if you ain't Manny R, you can't break two steps the wrong way, or run a horrible route, or let the ball bounce outta your glove every play you are involved in. (And that's basically what I saw eery time I was at the park when Freddy played.)

Lewis would be best traded to an AL team, where he could pinch-hit and play DH (if he really develops into the hitter some people think he might be).
That way his atrocious fielding won't be an issue.

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, "I dont' want Crede, but Lewis I wouldn't miss at all" means that I DON'T WANT CREDE. (You all know that trading for ONE year of questionable health without dumping one of our bad contracts doesn't really interest me.)
2nd thought : I wouldn't miss Freddy if he were traded.
(Two different topics, for me.)

I don't know about Lewis' fielding being unfixable. I mean, this is the giants farm system we're talking about... it's not like we're teaching position players ANYTHING. *grumble*

I wouldn't mind seeing Crede if they could dump Durham. Frandsen needs to play, preferably at 2B, not 3B.
I don't think Freddy is a great loss if he's traded. I'd still rather see Nate play more. He's younger and could still surprise.
