They're similar, but Crede beats Pedro in pop/avg, and he's 3 years younger.

Sure 2006 could have been a fluke, but can you ever imagine Pedro Feliz hitting .283 with a .323 OBP??? Never, ever. 2004 came close, but still not gonna happen.

Also, he's been in the league almost a year's worth of games less than Pedro, so it's not inconceivable that he could get better.

I wouldn't mind the guy, especially considering his D. I mean he's no world beater, but he's better than a bag of hammers.

That said...

...I wouldn't want to give up any one of consequence for this guy. No to Lowry, no to Sanchez. But then, who the hell would the sox want on the giants?? Sure it'd be fun to dream of dumping roberts/winn/rayray, but that just ain't gonna happen; not every GM in MLB is as stupid as teh pirates'.

The worst part of that statement it that it's probably true. To me, Corriea and Hennessey are much better pitchers than Lowry. And Sanchez's potential is probably higher than all three.

It's a shame that somehow Lowry's experience makes his perceived value higher. I'm sure any deal sending Henny and Corriea will be re-lived a la Accardo or Nathan.

I will hate any trade that sends a pitcher under age 30 to Chicago. I wouldn't even trade Chulk for Crede.

What if we dumped Roberts along with Hennessey or Correia? That would open a spot for Scheirholtz. Would that make it worth while? What do you guys think? I'm not sure.

I'm going to give Sabean the benefit of the doubt he earned it with the Morris deal.

I real don't like the idea of baiting bad contract dumps with young pitchers. Roberts + Henny/KevCor would be a disaster, IMO. You're only allowed to trade away two young future successful pitchers a decade. The quota has been filled.

See if he's healthy? One cactus league won't tell us that. Back injuries are like cancer: they're never cured, just in remission.

Crede deal already in the making??

From MLB-Rumors.com - "Crede to Giants: The Giants and White Sox reportedly have a deal in place that would send Joe Crede to the Giants for at least two prospects. If Crede can get to Spring Training and prove that he can do well then they will go through with the trade. Otherwise, they will play with what they got"

I still like the idea of sending the Sox Roberts over Lowry or any prospects. Heck, the Giants need all the prospects they can get to help them build for the future. If the Giants are going to deal for Crede it better for a cheap deal for the Giants in terms of talent given up.

Just sayin'

That could be the best option at this point assuming Sabean can't get rid of some contracts like Roberts and Durham.

I'd hate to sign Crede to an inflated extension based on a month of spring training, when Roberts, Winn, Aurilia, and Durham are all on the books.

Just sayin'

Crede is a scrappy guy, unlike Pedro who is a hack. There is considerable value in that. However, I wouldn't trade Lowry or Sanchez. Sanchez has more upside and Lowry is a lefty and they often become high in demand.

Correia I might do, but a have a gut feeling we woudl regret such a move. Henny and 1 or 2 low level prospects seem to be the most fair.

I hope Sabean doesn't screw this one up.
