...and the rich get richer.

!@#$ me, I really didn't want to see Santana in the NL. But then again, better than going to the sawks or the yanks... and we only play the mets 1 or 2 series' a season.

Twins are stupid!!

Sox and Yanks both had better offers...

I'd have taken Ellsbury or Hughes package over a Gomez package.

I wouldn't disagree. But, I don't think they wanted him in the same league. Hell, I thought the Dodgers might get involved last minute and trump the Mutts package.

Re: Johan to the Mutts

That's a huge deal, but I'm not sure the Mets won't live to regret it.

Johan and Pedro at the top of the rotation may look imposing, but Martinez hasn't been the most consistent guy, nor injury-free. The rest of the rotation has questions. I like Maine, he looks very consistent. But does anyone truly expect Oliver Perez to be that [sign in to see URL] ERA pitcher again? And neither Hernandez nor Pelfrey should be big producers at the back of the rotation.

The trade takes away a lot of the Mets upper pitching depth. If Maine continues to do well and Martinez remains healthy, then the Mets may have three good pitchers at the top of their rotation. But even if just one of those two falter, then the Mets rotation gets very shallow with few options to fill in.

The best part is the the Manatee won't be getting a job with the Mets anytime soon now that they got Johan. I wonder where Mr. Krispy Kreme will end up now?

As for this deal, I think it's a great deal for the Mets. IMO Santana is worth more than a no-hit outfielder and three pitching prospects, none of who are going to be more than a #3 starter.

Just sayin'

I actually agree with you Bruteemoticon
I think Gomez is a bit overrated, but could pan out. But Guerra is the one they may regret. A lot of people think he was their best young pitcher.
They probably become the faves in the East, but not without some serious question marks. And now their depth is lacking.

Go theres how? Unlike Nathan and company, Santana was an expiring contract. The Twins were going to lose him regardless.
