San Jose: Worst Hitter's Park in Minor League Baseball?

Interesting Article on [sign in to see URL] today. They're talking about places in the minors where players are having problems picking up the ball out of pitcher's hands. They put together a 'Vision Quotient'. Basically, it's a combination of stadiums that have the worst BA and OBP factors, and the highest K factor.

Not only is San Jose #1 on the VQ list, it is the #1 offender for BA and OBP, and #5 best place for strikeouts.

The article goes into more detail, but this is a very interesting point I'd never thought about. The numbers certainly bear this out, looking at a number of Giants prospects. Add in to the wind usually blowing nearly directly in from right killing left-handed sluggers, and Muni looks like a very bad hitter's park despite the newer, friendlier directions.

This brings up a new piece in the debate about the Giants developing hitters: Augusta is one of the largest parks in the minors, Connecticut's reputation is well deserved, and San Jose obviously isn't good for the bats. Do the parks have an unreasonable downward effect on hitters?

But Fresno at least from what I understand is a great hitters park. Does that dicredit your theory or enhance it by screwing with them.

And maybe this helps explain Foppert and Williams to a degree. Maybe more Williams than Foppert who had injury problems.

I wont dismiss Ainsworth who was pretty good until he cracked his scapula.

Or do the parks have an unreasonable upward effect on the pitchers?
