Cain for Crede?
Why bother trading for a one year (crappy) solution at 3B? It makes no sense. There's plenty of crap already signed!

Re: Cain for Crede?
To be fair, he is most definately not crap if he comes back from his surgery as well as prognosticated. But, all things being equal, he wont really help us much in the next couple years, and when the rest of the line-up starts shaping up above mediocrity, we already have our own multi-million dollar bonus baby in the system that "should" be ready for some "show time".

By "not crap" do you mean Pedro Felizish?
Crede really hasn't done anything good offensively since his 30HR year. That looked more like a career year than what he is really like. Looking and the rest of his career, he's really a .259/.305/.446 with 19-22 HRs. I think watching Pedro swing the stick the past seven years has jaded us in a negative way.

Cain for Crede?
I'm tired of "carribean hackers swinging at slop nightly". I don't see how a "Missouri hacker swinging at slop nightly" is any better.

Cain for Crede?
That's neither better nor worse.

Re: Cain for Crede?
For a team that plans on relying on having people on base, how can you say that? Feliz has had one year ever with on obp over .300(.305). Crede has posted better than that 4 of his 5 full(ish) seasons. That's not the same, that's not the same at all. Step away from the bong, I repeat, step away from the bong.

Cain for Crede?
Feliz vs. Crede. Hmmm. What analogy could I use?
While walking through the park, if given the choice between accidently stepping in fresh poodle poop, or stepping in a cow pie just dropped by a diarrhetic Heresford, I guess I'd have to pick poodle crap. Of course, I'd rather do neither - but if I HAD to choose between the two ...

Where have you read that? OBP is for p-ssies. Men don't get on base. Men do "all the little things." They use speed and defense to score and prevent runs. Out-pitch. You don't score runs by getting on base. You score by giving away outs and filling your lineup with average to below average hitters who swing their way onto base.
The Giants haven't committed to this plan of having people on base. They don't believe in it. They don't understand it. Everybody else is doing it, and the Giants don't do what other teams do (even though they think they're trying to copy the Padres) because they are leaders, not followers.
I'm sorry... I'm just now realizing that I can't post in these threads without using the same rhetoric again and again. I find the Giants to be a running joke but, like a stump speech or standup routine, the jokes don't really change from day-to-day. Ugh.
Crede would fit perfectly into the Giants' plans because they perceive him as being greater than he's actually worth, just like Feliz.
