Correia for Crede would be a good trade for the Giants. Lowry for Crede would be over-paying IMO unless the Sox added in one or two decent prospects.

I don't see how you can come to that conclusion. To me, Correia>>>Lowry. Better stuff and better career numbers. Kevin's had a sub 3.50 ERA the past two seasons. Correia is a gross overpay for Crede.

Just because he's got less experience doesn't mean he's any less valuable.

That's a good point Chef. Regardless, it looks like the Sox would want a pitcher for Crede and not someone like Roberts which is what we would all prefer.

Just sayin'

I say if the Sox want a pitcher (not named Zito or Kline) it's too much to pay.

I just don't think giving up a player with *any* upside is worth taking on a player that will most likely be equal to Feliz offensively and step down defensively. And making $5M. And blocking the now-supposedly-buff-enough-to-play-3B Squirrel.

The point is, even if Correia is a better talent than Crede (which is debatable, 06 Crede would have been the second best hitter on last years team and probably the best on this current team at a position the Giants have greatest need), that doesn't mean the white sox would make the deal.

I'll debate it and say 2006/2007 Corriea>>>2006 Crede. I'm just going on an OPS+/ERA+ type of sliding scale.

Kevin 2006: 129 ERA+
Kevin 2007: 129 ERA+
Crede 2006: 107 OPS+

No questioning my rationale! It's mine, all mine!!!!

EDIT: To correct the year by Crede's OPS+ to 2006.

You are not considering the needs of the teams involved, nor the internal solutions that each has as an alternative, which effects the players value to that team.

Is that the OPS+ of 2006 Crede that I sighted, I'll assume that it is but you put 2007, and I'm not going to take time to check your work.

Well, to me the Giants need Correia more than they need a year of Joe Crede. The only team that would benefit from this trade would be Chicago, IMO. They've already got their replacement 3B with far more. It's not the duty of the Giants to help them restock after their Swisher splurge.

yes, that is his OPS from 2006, the year he hit 30 HRs. To use 2007 would be admittedly unfair to Crede.

I don't disagree in the contrast of value in the two players. I just doubt the deal would happen. I doubt that either team would want to make the deal. I only said they must have meant Corriea in jest, because both names start with a C, and they could not have possibly meant that Crede for Cain is a reasonable deal. That is probably the most rediculous suggestion or speculation I have seen in any form of media ever.

Would it be worse than DeLino for Pedro?

What's the difference between Crede and Feliz? They are almost identical. Crede is a career .250 hitter. I'd rather keep Correia. Crede is just another quick fix.

Cain for Crede?

What is for certain is that Crede is on the radar of the Giants. Who is holding up the deal, the Giants wanting to see how Crede's back is during ST or the Sox wanting to boost up Crede's value, is uncertain. Personally, I'd rather see the Giants take a chance on someone like McPherson or better yet, talk to the Reds about E. Encarnacion. Now there is a guy who'd I'd trade Lowry or Sanchez for.

Just sayin'

So, why exactly is Sabean considering trading for Crede when he could simply sign MacPherson?

Maybe he's going to unload something useless?
