Cain for Crede?
From Rotoworld.... shoot me....
The Mercury News reports that the Giants will monitor Joe Crede this spring, and if healthy, there's a "good chance" they could acquire him for a pitcher.
The Giants have reportedly been shopping Matt Cain, who would be a solid fit in the back of a Chicago rotation that is starved for experience. Giants special assistant Ron Schueler, the former White Sox GM, has been pushing the team to acquire Crede.

Re: Cain for Crede?
I think they meant Correia.
Back of the rotation, experience, equal value for Crede.
If they really mean Cain, that writer is really stupid for suggesting it if there is no actual evidence of this being considered, or Sabean is the dumbest man on the planet.
Not sure which is the safer bet.

Starved for experience and adding Zito would be cool...and eating that contract.

Correia for Crede would be a good trade for the Giants. Lowry for Crede would be over-paying IMO unless the Sox added in one or two decent prospects. As for Cain, NO WAY! Cain is worth a ton more than Crede. Cain maybe for Josh Fields but even that is a strech in my mind.
Geez, you'd think that Rotoworld would get such things right.
Just sayin'

Re: Cain for Crede?
I don't know where Rotoworld is getting Cain's name...
If you click on the link, it mentions Crede, but doesn't mention Cain / Lowry / Correia.
More irresponsible journalism.

I love how they say he's a great fit for the back of the rotation. I guess they are suggesting that Garland and Contreras would be ahead of Cain in the Giants rotation. Give me a break.

Wow, a trade rumor actually worse than Lincecum for Rios. I think I'm going to be sick.

I don't see how you can come to that conclusion. To me, Correia>>>Lowry. Better stuff and better career numbers. Kevin's had a sub 3.50 ERA the past two seasons. Correia is a gross overpay for Crede.
Just because he's got less experience doesn't mean he's any less valuable.

I'd probably agree that Correia is better than Crede, but how valuable is Correia to the White Sox? is he better than an internal option? maybe. But probably not by much. Then again CWS want to move Crede and start Fields so...
The point is, even if Correia is a better talent than Crede (which is debatable, 06 Crede would have been the second best hitter on last years team and probably the best on this current team at a position the Giants have greatest need), that doesn't mean the white sox would make the deal.

That's a good point Chef. Regardless, it looks like the Sox would want a pitcher for Crede and not someone like Roberts which is what we would all prefer.
