Joe Crede signs with ChiSox

Here's a rumor that we haven't talked about here. How about this guy?

Hinske to Diamondbacks?: Eric Hinske is closing in on a deal with an unknown team, according to the Boston Herald. They think it might be the Diamondbacks, but their bench is pretty good. It might be the Giants, who are looking for a corner infielder.

Just sayin'

Hinske is more of a 1b'men than 3rd. IMO, I'd rather they just go with Ort or sign Wilkerson to platoon with him than take a flier on Hinske who hasn't done much since his rookie year. I think McPherson would be a better option at 3rd for about the same price as well. The lineup wouldn't be great but better than it is now without tying up big money.

Roberts/Davis lf
Winn rf
Ortmeier/Wilkerson 1b
Molina c
Rowand cf
Durham/Frandsen 2b
Mcphereson/Frandsen 3b
Vizquel ss

oh man, I still laugh every time I see Molina penciled into cleanup slot on people's proposed lineups......

....then I realize they're right and I'm sad....

yeah, It's sad, but it's probably going to be either Molina or Durham if he regains form.

The problem with Wilkerson is that he is another Boras client and he wants like $6 or $7 million per year for three years. No way. The Giants don't need any more contracts like that. I'd rather give Ortmeier a shot and have Aurilia back him up and save some cash.

Just sayin'

I don't know how savvy Brian Sabean was being when the Pirates called HIM to get Morris (isn't that how it went down? He was sitting around with a thumb up his butt when the telegram machine came to life?). Usually, Ol Bri's licking veteran savvy off his chin rather than exercising it.

Also, Roberts for Crede would be great. They'd be paying Feliz money to a white version of Feliz but for only one year.

And Wilkerson is done.

I don't think he'll get anything close to that. I'd be surprised if he gets more than a one year deal with maybe an option at around 4-5 mill at best. It's getting close to spring and guys are going to have to sign pretty soon here.

That said, I wouldn't be thrilled to sign Wilkerson, just would rather get him than Hinske or Clark at around the same price.

This Chicago paper seems to think that the ChiSox will trade Crede to the Giants but that the asking price will be Lowry. I've said all along, if the deal is for Roberts or Durham, great. But trading Lowry or Sanchez to the Sox for Crede would be a big mistake.

Let's hope that Sabean doesn't deal Lowry for Crede aka, a DL version of Feliz.

Just sayin'

I still think if we wait until ST and Crede is mashing, it's going to cost us and Sabes will be more than willing to pay.

Since Crede would be here for just a year, my opinion is obvious.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)
