TRADE: Glaus for Rolen and some cash changing hands

]Link.
So, that should end that speculation. Good deal for both teams, swapping damaged goods with some power potential, should either play a full season. I might even say that STL gets the better end of the deal if health were not a factor.

2 more third basemen off the list...

I'm not saying either was a great option for us, but the longer we wait, the more evenutal a Feliz 3 yr contract becomes..

More options off the table for us also means more options off the table for Feliz. I don't think the Giants particularly want to play Frandsen at third, but they'd rather do that than cave on Feliz's third year.

Personally, I'd still rather have the pick than Feliz at any price

Re: TRADE: Glaus for Rolen and some cash changing hands

Feliz-wise it's kind of a bummer. Supposedly the Cards were interested in Feliz if they could find a taker for Rolen.

As far as this trade, I think the Cards make out in this deal. Despite playing only 115 games last year, Glaus has yet to have a down year in terms of production percentages. Even completely healthy, they are pretty much even hitters, with Glaus having more power and Rolen having better BB/OBP numbers. And Glaus is no Cabrera at 3B, so it's not like the Jays are getting a huge upgrade on defense. Maybe a little, but not game-changing.

In terms of injury, I think the Cards will get more games out of Glaus than the Jays will get from Rolen.

In terms of cash, the Cards still make out because they really only have to hold onto Glaus for one season if they don't pick up the option, while Toronto is stuck with Rolen for 3 years.

Actually, after thinking about this more, it's not even close. Cards win big time in this deal.

The 2009 option is a player option, worth $[sign in to see URL]. If Glaus has a great year, expect him to walk away. If he isn't recovered 100% and his production sufers, expect him to spend 2009 in St. Louis.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

Glaus still posts some good OBP numbers but at $24 million still on his contract, I thinks was enough for Sabean to not be interested. Sabean could have easily have traded Lincecum for Rios and asked for Glaus as a throw in. I think Sabean is wanting to stay away from taking on any high paid, injury prone players. For that I give Sabean some credit.

I'm just praying that Sabean can swing a deal for Encarnacion or Teahen!

Just sayin'

I totally disagree about Feliz getting a 3rd year. If Sabean were inclined to do that, he would've done it already. As the options dry up for Feliz, he's more likely to accept fewer dollars and fewer years. If not, I don't think Sabean will cave.

How about Joe Crede from teh CWS?
According to [sign in to see URL], we're interested in trading for him.

Saw it on MLBTradeRumors, although they aren't exactly the greatest source in the world.

What does the article on BaseballProspectus say?

I think Sabes will wait until Spring Training on Crede...

So many other options that he isn't looking at however...
