It probably would have to have been some of the more talented low level fellers like Romo or Bucardo or even Pucetas (he's got the numbers to give Billy boy a little chub). IMO, those are the guys the guys shouldn't consider trading. By the time the team is good, they'll be need on the big club.

Side note:

Swisher being traded is just Teh Curse of Joey K. My buddy is a big time Athletics Supporter. The year that the A's acquired Johnny Damon he sunk $200 into an authentic road grey Damon jersey. Shorty after, Damon was Boston-bound. He thought he learned from his mistake and decided to invest in a nice Home White with a young player who was sure to be in with the club at least through his arbitration years. Now that $200 Nick Swisher Jersey can hang proudly in his closet by the Damon Uni.

Well, I think that lesson has as much to do with spending $200 on an article of clothing as investing in a particular player.

Some KNBR caller was whining about buying his son an $80 Swisher jersey and how Beane owes him a refund.

To him and anyone else that develops man-crushes on players: it's not worth it. Love 'em while they're on your team but don't go boiling their bunnies when they go.

Sincerely,

Curt Flood

Dear Barry,

That's not a very good attitude. Just "Do you job" like I did.

Some people seem to have missed the point. This started over in the "Sabean do you WANT us to hate you" thread when someone posted : "Fresno blasts may not translate to the bigs. " That was followed by fake quotes from people who hit well in Fresno, but never managed to hit well when playing for the big club. (Torcato, Linden, Ransom, Ellison, etc).

Then some people completely misunderstood and started posting random quotes.

Do not suggest trading for somebody for only two years (unless the Giants dump a crappy contract)

In terms of who could be sent to the minors next year if they don't make the opening day roster ...

Ortmeier, Fred Lewis and R Davis would have to pass waivers. (and Davis *might* be able to refuse an outright assignment to the minors).

Schierholtz can be sent to Fresno for one more year without having to worry about waivers.

I believe that both Erick Threets and Merkin Valdez are out of options and would have to pass waivers as well.

Yeah, but neither of those guys should start the year in SF. They should simply be dropped from the 40-man (as space is needed). I only addressed position players - not any of the pitchers.
