Wha....? Benson?

The Giants should only be in the Prior "sweepstakes" to drive up the price, so that it will be easier to move Lowry.

Prior would be good to take a flier on. If he performs well, he can teach a little to our youngns and then we can ship him off to a contender, a la Eric Gagne.

I like on her site she prefers the term "fun bags" over "breasts"

This means that Lowry is still on the block. I'd rather Sabean look into Freddy Garcia if he wants to take on a project. I doubt the Cards are looking to deal Chris Duncan, but I wonder if they would consider a Lowry/Durham/Roberts for Duncan/Rolen deal. If they covered the final year of Rolen's deal and Duncan could handle first, I might do that deal. A 3-4-5 of Duncan-Rolen-Rowand wouldn't be that bad, especially comparing to what we have now. It would also open up 2b for Frandsen as well as left field for a Schierholtz/Davis/Lewis audition. The Cards would get a leadoff hitter and some infield help along with a very solid 27 yr. old left-handed pitcher. Could make some sense for both squads.

If they move Lowry, I'd rather see Sanchez take his spot.

I don't understand why so many people are ok with trading Lowry, myself included. We have this guy at a paltry 4 mil per for the next couple yrs. He's young, good, relatively dependable, and above all else, cheap. He has been a solid #3 for us for a few yrs now and I see no reason to trade him for a bat because the bat most likely will NOT be what we need. We could get a solid #2 hitter, but there is virtually no way that we get a 3-4-5 hitter that we desperately need. I would rather trade "prospects" that have yet to proven themselves at the major league level then a guy who has been everything we could have asked for and is under contract for awhile.

I don't think that anybody is saying "get rid of Lowry, he's a bum" - it's more that he should be the one that we could accept losing and yet should bring back a useful young player. If you have to trade one of your starting 5 (and you can't trade Zito) - which one would it be? Yup, Lowry. Now, Sabean shouldn't trade him just to trade him, to "make a move". He should trade him only if he gets something good back. Say, a 3B better than Feliz at the plate who will be captive for a minimum of 3 years (5 would be better). Otherwise, hang on to Lowry.

We are all hoping that Sanchez could replace Lowry in the rotation, and do just about as well.

Of course we would make that deal in a second. But why would the Cardinals do that? They would essentially be replacing their 3/4 hitters (Duncan and Rolen) with Roberts and Durham, while making a modest upgrade to their starting staff. If the Cards GM did this deal, he should be dragged out in the street and shot.
