Steve Decker?

Man, I forgot about him.

He came up exactly like Lance Niekro.

They both looked great at first, but turned out to be flashes in the pan.

Nice for Steve.

The Giants name Oregon native Tom Trebelhorn as manager of S-K. He's got a lot experience managing in the big leagues. Even has Manager of the Year plaque on his mantle from the '87 Brewers.

Here

Do they pull off the three-peat? Stay Tuned!

Great replacement for a spot that should have been a promotion, not a loss. Good luck to Deck.

Let's see. NWL manager of the year, NWL Championship, NWL record # of wins, MILB SS team of the year, MILB overall team of the year.

Next year Decker and the Volcanoes both can go nowhere but downhill.

He'll be coaching many in San Jose he had as rookies in Keizer.

Boy, I'm going to try and get an interview with Deck once he gets into the area. I will miss Sakata a lot, but I'll like having Decker local.

Brute,

You thinking of making a trip up to S-K this season? Could be fun to get a big group and purchase one of them fancy boxes.

I am definitely planning it. I'm waiting for after the holidays to make my schedule, as I'm planning to hit each of the distant affiliates once, but also have jobs to schedule around.

Re: Decker To Manage San Jose

Season opener is in Keizer this year for the first time in three years. They might get the #5 pick this year to play there, but they are just starting out from scratch like always. They might get Mike Loberg returning, but I haven't been able to find out anything out about his knee/returning to baseball. He kicked ass in the wooden bat league (North Woods) during college and was looking good until the knee wiped out before the season began last year. He's another right fielder with power and a bazooka arm.

I look for Matt Downs to return to 2B next year wherever he goes.

Decker coached so many of the SJ team in Keizer that he knows most of them already. He also followed their careers after they left. Decker is very approachable and the kids all liked him.
