Sabean's actions noted in the Mitchell report.
Stan Conte looks to Sabean for support with ousting Anderson and Shields from the clubhouse, weightroom, and other restricted areas...and Sabean tells him to handle it himself and does not offer his support.
A player tells Stan Conte that he is thinking about getting steroids from Anderson. Conte is concerned that Anderson is distributing steroids to Giants players and goes to Sabean. Sabean does nothing and again asks Conte to confront Bonds and Anderson. Sabean doesn't inform anyone else in the org
Magowan asks Sabean if the Giants have a problem with drugs after the BALCO raids and Sabean says no, he's not aware of any problems.
Can we use the Mitchell report as an excuse to fire Sabean? And in retrospect can you blame Stan Conte for wanting to leave? That's not even including AJ kneeing him in the nuts.

I just saw the same thing on ESPN. If that stuff is true, I don't think Magowan has a choice but to show Sabes the door. Keeping him would be a big black eye on the Giants organization.

I agree Fatal.... I also find it odd, that it seemed to me, based on what I saw of the PC, Compared to how he lambasted the UNion, the Owners were barely mentioned..... also no Red Sox on the list Give me a facking break

Could the commissioner discipline or suspend Sabean?
Just a thought.

I wish he would have suspended him before he signed Rowand

In fairness Sabean did question a DEA agent about Anderson.
He didn't know it was a IRS job apparently.

The Giants did eventually ban a lot of Bonds' entourage and trainers from the club house albeit after the BALCO stuff came to light.
I'm just thinking that if Selig wanted to really send a message he could discipline not only a few players but a GM and to that extent, Sabean could be a target. I don't think Selig would want to upset the ownership group by going after one of their GM's but it would be a powerful way to make a point with the public and the press.
Just sayin'
