Re: Teh Music Thread
Thanks for the heads up kal, that sounds like a fun show. I saw Dave a few years ago, but there was no one playing sax, which just wasn't the same. Looks like he'll have a full compliment for this show, and I will definitely try to make this one. I have some tickets to Luciano at the Independent on opening day, and I'm looking to grab some for Devotchka later that month at the Fillmore when they come out.
Speaking of Devotchka, new music coming out this month in a couple of weeks:

Also some new stuff from Morcheeba who are coming to the Fillmore April 11:

For a taste:

Going to be a busy spring / summer for music and baseball, which is fine with me.
Let me know if you hear anything more on the Beat show.

Re: Teh Music Thread
I was in the mood for a little Redcoat Rap, so I 'spun' a little The Streets on the old iJuan. I'm a big fan of "Original Pirate Material" as well as "A Grand Don't Come for Free." I listened to AGDCFF two or three times before I realized that is was complete story from start to end. A day in the life type of theme.
I like Mike Skinner's style, but Mrs.Chef not so much. Actually, she hates it with every ounce of her being. She's says that listening to the Streets makes her want punch something. It causes some sort of deep anger in her. Facking weird.
The Streets also puts me in the mood for some Euro-pop with a dash of curry, so I listened to M.I.A.'s
Arular. I don't know why, but I facking love that album. It's mostly recycled 80s beats and generally dumb songs like URAQT (say it out loud, letter by letter). But, man, it's great dish-washing and dinner prep music.

I dig The Streets as well...for a great one-off bit of Redcoat Rap, I recommend hunting down John Cooper-Clarke's song "Evidently Chickentown" which is used to great effect in Teh Sopranos in the episode where Johnny Sack cashed in. Easily dowloaded by googling "Download Evidently Chickentown". I found it on the first result for no charge.

Re: …
That was pretty good, zac. i liked it.
One of my resent favs, Saul Williams, just got into a new Gatorade ad. They're using his song "List of Demands (Reparations)" in one of the new spots. It's running in the NCAA games, so I imagine it will get a lot of play during the tourney. Good for him.
