hey, most of them are you age, too.

The Eagles of Death Metal I would say are of the same "lineage" of Nirvana in way.

It's Teh Dave Grohl effect.

Grohl formed Foo Fighters, then played drums for Queens of the Stone Age on their album "Songs for the Deaf." Josh Homme, of QOTSA then founded the The Eagles of Death Metal with Jesse Hughes.

It's just rock music, man. pure rock music.

Does everyone here run iTunes?

If so, we could probably swap playlists. Like a ChefJuan Music Sampler if you will.

I've been know to burn 4GB playlists on to DVD-R, but that can be a bit much.

If they were 20-30 song playlists, they might even be small enough to send electronicly. Although snail mail music swapping has a very refreshing obscure-live-greatful dead-show-exchange vibe to it.

I’ve I had a few things running through the CD / I Tunes lately. Yo La Tengo is at the top of the list lately, since I saw them when they rolled through the Palace of Fine Arts last month on their Freewheeling tour:

With Prisoners Of Love and I Am Not Afraid Of You And Will Beat Your Ass in the rotation.

Also a little Smashing Pumpkins:

With Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie thrown into the mix.

Getting back into Thievery Corporation a bit lately for something a little different:

With The Mirror Conspiracy and Cosmic Game getting most of the playtime with repeated visits to Lebanese Blond and Samba Tranquille.

Rotating in a bit of Sublime:

The Gold compilations.

The Pogues are starting to fade into the background a bit since their visit to the Fillmore in October:

And I’ve also popped Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros Global A Go-Go back to into the rotation (shocker I know) as we approach five years later this month. And you can always check out some new stuff over at Strummerville:

I also like doing the play list mixes and burning a bunch of different stuff onto a CD and popping it into the mix. Here’s the latest somewhat influenced by recent trends:

Cherub Rock – Smashing Pumpkins
Shaker – Yo La Tengo
Slippery People – Talking Heads
What I Got – Sublime
White Man In Hammersmith Palais – The Clash
52 Girls – B-52’s
Hell’s Ditch – The Pogues
Only A Lad – Oingo Boingo
I Summon You – Spoon
In Bloom – Nirvana
Watching The Detectives – Elvis Costello
New York Groove – Ace Frehley
Comfort Eagle – Cake
Fame – David Bowie
Killing In The Name Of – Rage Against The Machine
Stockholm Syndrome – Yo La Tengo
Johnny Appleseed – Strummer and The Mescaleros
1979 – Smashing Pumpkins
Pussy – Brazilian Girls ***The Greatest Song Ever Written***
Vertigo – U2

The odd mix of 20 songs comes in at 72.5 MB on an I Tune burn for about 80 minutes of music.

I have a bunch of these mixes and would certainly be up for some exchanges if you get something going as I am always looking for some new tunes.

My boss, a confirmed O & A fan, has gotten me hooked on a tune by I crap you negative, RAFFI. That's right..."Ring-ring-ring-ring-ring-ring-ring BANANAPHONE!" which is now on the Pod just two songs away from "Anarchy In The UK" by the Sex Pistols. The Babyshambles album "Shotters Nation" is cycling through, along with Miss Amy Winehouse (got to have the junkies representin', plus--I can find no female vocalist who sounds as ready to get f*cked HARD as Amy does in "You Know I'm No Good"...maybe Eartha Kitt in Santa Baby, but Amy gets the push there)...Also made space for the Fabulous Performing Thompsons of the UK (Richard, ex-wife Linda and son Teddy have about three gigs of an 8 gig nano). Revolutionary thing these pods.

Re: Teh Music Thread

your tastes are quite fine, gentlemen.

bong, what do you think of the newest Pumpkins album? I admit I was pleasantly suprised. Some of the songs reminded me of being 15 and listening to Siamese Dream. Corgan has lost of his touch for that powerful wall of noise.

Good call of the Thievery Corp and Brazilian Girls. I saw both at Austin City Limits last year. The members of both bands are just as hot in person as their voices sound.

Not quite as sexy as Amy Winehouse, but just as soulful, is ]Sharon Jones and Dap Kings. Her band actually played backup for most songs on WInehouse's album.

I saw that show in Santa Barbara when I was a yute.

I love the RJD cameo on Kickapoo!

Awesome that you mentioned Pandora... I've got some good friends (who are also great musicians) that work there. It's nice to see people recognize the work they have been putting in there the past few years.

I'm probably not much help unless you're looking for roots reggae.

Oh, there is a new girl worth checking out named Ava Leigh. She's another young Brit girl playing reggae (but with Sly & Robbie!):
