The continuing adventures of Idiotic Milton Bradley

Bradley at center of bizarre plays in Padres game

SAN DIEGO (AP) -Padres center fielder Mike Cameron left Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies after he had his right hand stepped on by left fielder Milton Bradley.

The two fielders converged on Atkins' fly ball in left-center. Cameron made a sliding attempt to catch the ball but missed, and Bradley tried to jump over Cameron to avoid a collision. In the process Bradley's left foot spiked Cameron's right hand.

X-rays were negative and Cameron was listed as day-to-day.

Atkins rounded the bases for his first career inside-the-park home run, giving Colorado a 6-1 lead.
-----

THEN--- Bradley has a meltdown over something else, rushes the UMP and gets thrown to the ground by BUD BLACK, hurts his knee in the process and may have to go on the DL.

you gotta love it when your manager puts your own player on the DL during a pennant/wild card race, by throwing him down.

Further details:

Padres left fielder Milton Bradley ejected, hurt; manager Bud Black also tossed

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Padres left fielder Milton Bradley was ejected and then injured his right knee during a bizarre sequence in the eighth inning of Sunday's game against Colorado.

Bradley reached on a two-out single, then said something to umpire Mike Winters. During the course of Kevin Kouzmanoff's at-bat, it escalated into an argument and Padres manager Bud Black came running out.

Bradley went after Winters, was restrained by coach Bobby Meacham, then was ejected. Bradley continued to go after Winters. Black tired to restrain Bradley, grabbing him by the jersey and pushed him to the ground. Bradley grabbed his right knee and had to be helped off the field.

One batter later, Black ran onto the field after third-base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt called a check-swing strike on Adrian Gonzalez and was ejected.

"Brilliant" of his parent's to name him after a company that made this game. No wonder he is so pissed off all of the time:

Milton Bradley's Darkey Ten Pins - Object of the game is to bowl down the black men with the watermelon colored ball.

( Does it get any more wrong than this game? sheesh)

Re: …

yeah, it was a sign of the times.

There used to be all kinds of stuff like that.
One example:
Back then they sold fishing lures that were caricatures of black men eating watermelon-- to be used for catching vicious, toothy muskellunge fish.

It's pretty sad how our culture was. Most of us have no idea of ALL the little reminders there were like that, that were surrounding and insulting black culture on a daily basis and in many forms.
We hear about the segregation and the lynchings, but not much about the constant digs and put downs that were ever present and found in tons of products and advertisements. When I see stuff like that, I can easily understand how hard it must have been for any of them to not totally hate white Americans. And of course that is nothing compared to so much of the " in person" hatred that so many were subjected to.

Interestingly enough, black collectors are the ones who buy up most of that stuff these days. Not sure if that is their attempt to get rid of it all, or if they want it so they can display how ignorant America was, or for some other reason altogether.
