I question the ability of MLB to scrutinize the votes. Now, I voted 25x under several legitimate email addresses that I have and subsequently received emails from MLB thanking me for my votes. If there were illegal email addresses created in the voting program, those should have bounced back to [sign in to see URL] should have shown MLB that the emails were bogus and the votes should have not counted. I believe MLB's online voting system is flawed and obviously easily [sign in to see URL] improve how the fans vote online or eliminate it completely and put the vote back onto the players along with letting the fans vote at the ballpark only.

Not every baseball fan has the money to go to the park. Or live near a park, for that matter. I live near Seattle, and I'll be damned if I have to go to a freaking Mariners game, spend $20 on a ticket, plus $20 on parking just so I can vote for the All Star Game. I don't like the "you can vote only if you can spend $40 on a game" approach. Reeks of economic elitism to me. I'm sure that's not the train of thought that brought you to that solution in the first place, but it's what it would effectively be.

Creating a secure/less hackable voting page would be really easy to do for the MLB. And I'm still not convinced that that kind of system is not already in place (i.e. I still think the "trick" did not actually work).

MLB wants as many votes as possible to show to advatisers. 2006 we had so and so number of votes, in 2007 it increased this much so we want this much more in ads sales. So don't expect it to change any time soon.

Damn. I didn't think about that. You might very well be right. I need to think more cynically sometimes. emoticon

What was that guy's handle again? SuperPadre. I !@#$ hated that guy. That douche was also a Spurs fan who said the Suns had no good defensive players when they have Bell and Marion, two of the best in the league. What a !@#$ tool.

Didn't he write for the food column too?

writers will do anything to put "bonds" and "fraud" in the headline. !@#$ spineless no talent pussies.

I wrote Del Grande a not asking him if it was cheating to fill out more than one ballot at a game or at a Kragens, or to use more than one email address to vote or to vote for an inferior player like Beltran or Soriano (or in my case, Omar, Ray and Bengie)...All he reponded with was my name and city so that he could publish my response.

nice shk. i wrote a newsletter to my clients about finance reporters being morons, but by far and away, sportswriters are the lousiest speculative idiots around. they never need proof, jus some sort of, "report" "insider resonse" or "sources close to ___."

congrats on living in a city with a major league [sign in to see URL] live 200 miles from the nearest one. I'm merely stating that MLB needs to "build a better mousetrap" if the all-star voting is to maintain credibility if they are to allow the fans to continue to vote.
