Re: I am lovin' me some Dave Roberts

Roberts did just fine last year. In fact I'll take a 9 pitch atbat then a single + a score from on a double that he has to wait till it drops any day. There are only about 5 other leadoff hitters I would take over him. Hardly average. Tell me you would pass up Ichiro or Reyes because neither of them hit 20 homers either.

The only #2 hitter I can think of that has "pop" is Adum Dunn and he's in a loaded lineup. Even the Mets, Yankees and Redsox dont have "pop" at #2 so you lose credibility right there b/c those are the 3 best lineups bar none. For a #2 hitter you want someone that can work the count, hit for avg, steal on occasion, and get on [sign in to see URL] sounds like Omar to me.

i'm jumping on the bandwagon with that catch!

---
Hamels started toward the dugout after what he thought was a strike. Lincecum didn't get the call & buzzed ump Dana DeMuth w. a fastball that slammed off the backstop & then froze Hamels w. another 3rd strike. 4/28/10 Timmy the ump killer.

Now to say I would rather have Durham hit 40 HRs that makes sense b/c he is hitting 4th, but Omar and Roberts are not overpaid and they do their jobs both on defence and offence hitting 1 and 2. Name me one lineup that has a #1 guy hitting 20+ HRs and the #2 guy hitting 40+.

The average NL team got 17 homers and 57 total extra base hits from their #2 hitter in 2006. The Giants got 4 and 38. I'm not asking for a Pujols batting 2nd, I am asking for a Ray Durham.

Yeah I hear yeah. You want a 20 20 type guy. To be honest I was really dissapointed when the Giants first signed Omar, but I have been thrilled watching him play. I also think this team should replace many other guys before Omar, but that might just be me.

Omar isn't disappointing, but legitimately batting him higher than 6th or 7th is.
