Highest paid defensive player ever? wow

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the 49ers agreed to terms with cornerback Nate Clements on a eight-year, $80 million contract.
$22 million was guaranteed. Clements can say he's the highest paid defensive player in NFL history, but he didn't get the most guaranteed money and the deal is essentially six years and $44.5 million. Clements, Shawntae Spencer, and Walt Harris should make a solid trio at corner for the ascending 49ers. Mar. 2 - 7:31 pm et

They've also signed Micheal Lewis, a saftey from the Eagles. And I hear that Aubrayo Franklin, a DT from the Ravens, will be meeting with them soon.

Free-agent wide receiver Ashley Lelie signed a two-year deal with the 49ers for $4.3 million, including a $2 million signing bonus.

He's a consistent deep threat. Still young. Good signing.

Not a bad signing. Cheap deal, for an average, #3 receiver.

But as a Bronco fan, I hate him. He cried his way out of Denver because he wanted to be the #1 receiver. He's nowhere close to being a #1 receiver.

He played in a west coast offense all of his career, which doesn't fit his style. Maybe playing in the 49ers stlye of play will increase his production. IMO, he's not an upgrade over Bryant. He may not have off the field trouble, but Bryant is a more productive WR. Lelie is scared to go in the middle sometimes, and he's not a good route runner. He'd probably be the worst #1 WR in the league if the Niners don't sign Stallworth. He's a decent #2, and a good #3.

He's already an improvement over Bryant because he can play the first two games of the season and I don't have to shield my eyes every time Smith throws a pass his way. Say no to crack, kids.
