Ichiro in '08?

So says Rosenthal.

I'd be down with this. Not the "big bat" the Giants could use, but they also could look to get a decent first baseman in '08 to fill that need.

Interesting idea.

Just sayin'

hmm I don't know. We would have an OF of Roberts, Winn and Ichiro.
Not a great power threat.
If we could just move Winn or Roberts and replace him with a power guy, that would be amazing.

Right now, I would prefer seeing Andruw Jones.

Forget power, I like getting Ichiro, he's a quality superstar that can be built around. I'd rather find power in the infield, and focus on players who have the range and ability to play plus defense in the cavernous outfields of the NL West.

I hope this is true.

It makes a lot of sense. I too think the Giants then could find a power pat at first or third and then have good D in the outfield with Roberts, Winn and Ichiro.

I wonder how well Winn and Ichiro get along and if this could play a part in getting Ichiro to come to the Giants?

Just sayin'

Ichiro will be 34 next year. He would be plan "F" or "G" for me.

Plan A Wells
Plan B Zambrano
Plan C Abreu
Plan D Jones
Plan E Nathan
Plan F Dunn
Plan G Ichiro
Plan H Michael Young

Getting Ichiro is a bad Idea IMO.

You would have that slappy OF which has already been mentioned. But that would put so much pressure on getting power from the Corner IF that it just wouldn't be worth it. Even if you also signed Dunn, he'd likely be your only power source. You could take 3B out of the power equation for 08 because Frandsen will hopefully be there, as Ray will still be at 2B.

So unless you also sign Dunn, Ichiro is a bad idea because that move would create the weakest (in terms of HR) lineups in the major leagues.

If you didn't sign Dunn you'd be looking at Durham in the cleanup spot.

I'd take Ichiro if they got a power bat to go along with him, such as Adam Dunn. Could put Dunn at 1B, Durham 2B, Frandsen SS, Aurilia 3B, Roberts LF, Winn CF, Ichiro RF, Molina C. Just a quick look at a possible lineup for '08.

I'd say yes, only if power is picked up in other positions. Man, everyone is complaing about Vlad, but I wish the Giants had picked up Miggy.

A: Wells will resign with the blue jays
B: Zambrano, yankee or red sox will get him
C: Abreu: not bad but isn't he older then ichiro and his power has been declining.
D: Jones, bad ba, bad obp. other then his hr he has nothing. overrated and on the decline defensively
E: Nathan, would the giants admit they made a mistake in trading him?
F: Dunn, i like him, sign him and move him to first.
G: Ichiro, good fit if the giants can get some power. And if he can had for a 3-4 yr contract.
H: Michael Young, good number but scare of his home/road splits.

I am really starting to think that Giants fans don't want good players on our team.

But Ichiro doesn't accomplish that "youth movement" that was paid lip service a couple of months ago.

And, Vernon Wells is probably on the verge of signing with TOR, so, there's one option away.
