Got to agree we have to win game 4 or we're done and if we don't.

Its time for a new coach. I like Todd But I don't think his system works for this team at all. WE need a more fiery coach that will stress discipline and hard work every shift much like Hitchcock has done for the Blues.

Niemi may not be the answer I wouldn't resign him either after this year we need another Nabby.

A guy that works off being in the right position in net and not leaving wide open ones for easy goals which niemi does a lot when he gets out of position.

Hoping they can turn this around in game 4.

Well Byco I think we might be seeing a change in the tide in the western conference.

Sharks being handled rather easily by St Louis. I expect them to go down tomorrow night

Wings handled pretty easy by Nashville in 5.

Hey at least you guys have 4 cups in the last 20 years I am starting to think we will never win 1.

Vancouver will probably fall to LA tonight in 5. LOL

Phoenix has complete control of the Hawks through 4.

Even with both our teams out I may pay attention to the second round. Could be some very fine hockey match ups with the best 4 goalies in the conference going at it.

My contacts in the Wings' organization tell me that Babcock is not happy with GM Holland in that he's not supplying him with the button men needed to make the hits on the opposition.

In other words the Red Wings "Don't have that kind of muscle anymore."

I hate being able to read the future. LOL

Man at least your team didn't lose on a routine dump in that your goalie bobbles and they tie the game and they score to take the lead right after it.

Only the sharks could have that happen to them.

I remember a certain Chris Osvood muffing a dump in that Jamie Baker converted into a series-winning goal on 1993.

The frustrating & inconsistent '11/'12 season is over, and there is about to be a tough off-season of decisions. Over-reactions & decisions may be the most to blame for '11/'12. Not one of DWill's trades worked out as envisioned, and the worst one was McGinn. Havlat & Burns made sense at least when the deal was made, but they just didn't live up to expectations or gel with the team, and I think that was the overall main issue this year...team chemistry due to roster turnover, which will make the '12/'13 decisions even tougher.

$$$

8.7 mil in cap space.

http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=3

Forwards

I don't want to see Moore, Winnik, or Galliardi back (unsure of any of their contract situations). Mitchell is a UFA (doubt he comes back). The 4th line should be Wingels/Handsuz/Desjardins. The 3 other lines need to be addressed.

A Couture or Clowe will have to be traded, maybe even Pavelski. We have to have more right handed players at RW, LW, and C. Everyone is LH, and it kills simple cross ice passing & one timers. Big Joe played awesome. Marleau will never be traded due to his NTC, so don't even mention it (same for Thornton). Havlat didn't come to camp in shape, it's assumed he was really affected by the KHL crash...liked what I saw after his return from injury.

Defense

Boyle is aging, but he was obviously hurt all year, tried as hard as he could, and contributed solidly. Pickles was great. Burns needs to be more physical, especially with his skill set. You could see Burns was used to doing it all himself in MIN, and had a hard time early on adjusting to the Sharks team style. Murray has lost a step, and is a dinosaur who has zero offensive presence. White & Vandermeer grossly underachieved. Braun grew up this season. Demers, would like to see an upgrade here.

Boyle/Vlasic/Burns/Braun all obviously return. Need to move/upgrade Murray & Demers.

Goalie

Nemo played well, and most the goals scored on him throughout the season & playoffs were due to a God awful PK, and then bad D especially on rebounds & D not clearing away forwards & protecting the crease & Nemo.

PP & PK

Even though we had the #2 PP, this unit shockingly could have played better.

PK however, the coach in charge of this unit must be fired, and this unit was a pile of suck all year long.

Coach & GM

This is a very tough call. Todd has gotten them to 2 Western finals. DWill is more to blame than Todd for this season due to his moves. DWill could very well be fired, and no doubt a new GM would also clean out the staff. If possible, but unlikely, I'd fire the assistant coaches...but Todd would rightfully take a stand, and go down with his staff. I'd lean towards not firing Todd or DWill, but making major staff & theory changes to the style of play & coaching style.

'12/'13

I'm glad I'm not making any of the upcoming decisions, and they already fired a lot of their tradable bullets last offseason. DWill needs to suck it up, and make some hard trades. Todd needs to reflect on his staff, and make some changes. The roster needs to be faster, hit harder, grittier, and seriously...more skilled right handed shooters. It may sound ridiculous unless you've played, but you have no idea what an asset it is to pass cross ice from a lefty to a righty, and vice-versa. I'd also be careful to not over do it like they did in '11/'12, but changes have to be made.

Be very interesting to see who hoists the Cup in '12. Right now, I'd favor NSH to come out of the West and win it all, but the 1st round isn't even over yet. Who comes out of the East, who the F knows. What a mess. All four of the truly better teams are losing their series, no way to see who survives the East.

Looking forward to next season, and go Sharks!

I think you're spot on with just about everything FSS. Although I would like to see Winnik back. I liked what I saw from him. The other two midseason acquisitions could not have been more disappointing.

They're in a weird position like you said having made all the moves they did last off-season. IMHO, I would say stick it out one more year and give everyone a chance to really gel. I read somewhere a while back that with as much roster turnover as they experienced last year that it could take until the second year for the new core to really hit their stride. Seems to make sense with what we saw all season. Loads of inconsistency.

With that said, if I could pick one move to make without regards to NTC/NMC, it would be to part ways with Marleau. I don't know what happened to him, if he's hurt, lost his fire, lost a step or whatever, but I think he needs a fresh start somewhere else. But the reality is he does have a NMC or NTC so I can't really see that happening.

I'm disappointed with the outcome but optimistic moving forward. Thornton these last couple years has been awesome in the playoffs. We all waited what seemed like forever for him to perform in the postseason and he's done so in consecutive years now. Niemi played really well against the Blues, tying goal last night aside, which was nice to see after having a somewhat rocky season. I like a lot of the pieces on this team and I'm hoping they get the chance to really come together next year.

Winnik was the best of the three acquisitions. Moore & Gallaradi were just totally ineffective.

If Marleau could be moved, I'd be very tempted to do so...but I think the franchise is pot committed to him. We'll win with #12, or not at all.

Definitely need to be careful not to do too much, and yet not be afraid to make a big move...tough line to straddle. Really wish the Couture/Nash trade had gone through.

I'd find one D via free agency, and make some trades & FA to resolve the Forwards. They're only one or two players away. Hell, they were points away from the #3 seed, and matched up very well vs. CHI. STL was a nightmare matchup, but we would of had to played them eventually, or NSH in Round 2 who looks even better.

Looking forward to next season, miss the boys already.

Re: Re:

I got no problem with any of that.

Marleau really has looked terrible the last few years in the playoffs. I could see the Sharks trying to get him to wave his ntc this off season and the trade of Mcginn was beyond fing stupid. I wouldn't be too shocked to see Doug Wilson get fired.

Inconsistent play probably very much had to do with the lack of chemistry this year plus I wish Todd would just let the lines gel instead of continuing to change them up as soon as they start to slump.
