Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
Hello All! Just joined today!
I am a Giants fan by birth! I'm am a third gen American and third gen San Franciscan. My family have baseball fans from the start following the Seals. My great aunt had even dated Lefty Gomez for a while.
My Grandfather was a huge Giants fan as soon as they moved from NY. He took me to my first game April 16th, 1984 vs the Padres. Mark Davis was on the mound, Dusty was still batting 1000 in his first year with the Giants. We were behind the plate and at one point a foul ball bounced off my leg. Good times, I was hooked!
My Mom was good enough to take me to the NLCS game in 89 when clinched against the Cubs and the memories go on and on.
I'm happy to be here and am looking forward to hearing everyone's opinions about the Giants.
Go Giants!!

NO WAI MAN
Mark Davis is a porn star.
Hell, while I'm here...
In 1970 a man landed a gig with the Bechtel Power Corp.'s home office in San Francisco.
Wanting to shorten his commute he moved his family from Richland, WA to Lafayette, CA.
His then 10 year old son discovered baseball - and the Giants - on the radio.
"You can take it where you go
You've got 560 radio
KSFO, in San Francisco!"
Originally the boy marveled at how quickly the batters ran after hitting the ball,
not realizing that there were sometimes runners already on the bases.
"YOU CAN TELL IT....GOODBYE." - Lon Simmons
Thanks, Dad.
And thanks, St-t-t-tephen D. B-B-Bechtel, Jr.

--- Jackie Robinson had already retired when the Dodgers tried to trade him to the Giants.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
My dad was a kid in East San Jose when the Giants came out west. When I was a kid in Downtown San Jose, he took me to the Stick to see Scottie Garrelts beat the Dodgers. After the game, security asked us to move along after my dad was spending too long glaring at Tommy Lasorda as Lasorda was waiting to get on the Dodgers' team bus.

Re:
The Giants and I both arrived in the Bay Area in November of 1957. Me at Alta Bates Hospital and the Giants at Seal Stadium. We've been linked together ever since.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
Growing up in the east bay, my parents took me to Oakland Oaks games and San Francisco Seals games. When the Giants moved west we went to Seals stadium to watch the Giants early in '58, sitting down the 3d base line I was smacked in the left thigh by a line drive, never cried so hard in my life, but I was hooked.

Re: How did you become a Giants Fan (and Who played a role)?
Im 30. My dad took me to a Phoenix Firebirds game while down there for a softball tournament in 87. Got to see Matt Williams play his patented 3 bag. I freakin love baseball so being a Giants fan was inevitable. My dad has a ball signed by the entire either 62 or 63 Giants. I remember sitting in the nosebleeds of the Stick for the NLDS against the Marlins in 97. Getting kicked in the ribs while pouncing on a Bonds foul ball at the Stick. I also got kicked out of the Stick for throwing a piece of ice at Bonds in 99. Almost hit his fat head. Im over on the mlb board as well, decided to come over.

Re:
Well, I don't remember much about my first game. I know for a fact it was at Candlestick and it was a Dodgers game. I remember that I really wanted a foam finger. Blue was my favorite color and I don't think I was able to read then. My dad corrected me and told me to always get orange. Ever since then, I've picked Orange over Blue. I got more into baseball when my dad was watching the all star game on tv one year. I remember Tony Gwynn and Barry playing. It was just so interesting to me. Then my dad got me baseball video games and I was hooked.
