Invitation to Giants fans
What's up, guys?
Phillies fan here, and I'd like to invite you to our Phillies message board at http://www.phillysportscentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?6-Phillies-Message-Board-amp-Discussion-Forum for a little smack talk. Some of our users will most likely sign up here as well.
We have some time to kill before Saturday, and in the interest of team-to-team and board-to-board rivalry, we're inviting Giants fans to come and try to hang with Phillies fans. We have an active forum, and the only thing our posters have more than attitude and foul mouths is baseball knowledge.
We did the same invite thing last week with Reds fans, and while we had a number of quality posters show up, it was evident that the Reds fanbase is made up of clueless crybabies, whiners, and to be perfectly honest, sister-banging mouthbreathers.
Here's hoping Giants fans are a step up.

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
Smack talk? You mean Halladay is going to own the Giants, Oswalt too, also Hamels. Victorino is a hero, the Phillies bats are the best, Philles are WS champs...
I believe that pretty much sums up smack talk from a Phillies fan.

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
Speaking of sister-banging, I think this is the point where one of the posters here retorts with something about smelling his sisters underwear.

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
Ok, i'll bite...
I can say that a majority of the posters here wont waste their time registering and posting on your board. If you want to engage Giants fans here, then your best bet is making a legitimite thread about the upcoming series without the grade school "smack" talk. Anything else, you're just going to get ignored and/or banned.
Beware though, most posters here will run circles around you as far as baseball knowledge goes.
EDIT: Good Luck...

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
here's a better idea:
forget the "My dad can beat up your dad" banter that never amounts to anything worth the time of day. Most of us are way too old for that crap
Philly fans stay on their board and talk with Philly fans and Giants' fans do the same.
If you want to discuss players or game situations, welcome, but leave the rest of it to 12 year olds.
Phils have a good team and probably are the favorites going into the series. Let it go at that-we don't need to hear how great all of them are and how the Giants are going to be swept, each game by 12-0, probably no hit in at least 2 games.
After all, I'm sure we, too, will turn out to be clueless crybabies, whiners, and sister-banging mouthbreathers.

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
Why such strict rules? Is this a nanny-type board?
Probably not a good marriage then. Our board has baseball talk, knowledge, and very few rules. Our posters are treated like adults, and while that means there will be some arguing and flaming, it also allows the community to police itself.
We probably wouldn't enjoy being babysat here, and you guys probably wouldn't like the mean words and inability to hide behind the mods.
Sorry to bother you guys. Enjoy your knitting time while you wait for the game.

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
So I guess any knowledgeable baseball talk from Phillie fan is out of the question?
EDIT :sigh:

Re: Invitation to Giants fans
The internet is a big place. I'm sure you guys will eventually find people you consider your peers, while all people who don't care for your style can safely be characterized as untermensch or crybabies unworthy of exposure to your greatness.
SF doesn't make the postseason every year, so we tend to take the view that we don't want our postseasons wasted trying to come up with new ways to tell people to go perform seemingly impossible acts of self gratification.
