@29:23, Love watching Ed sing Evolution.
@25:10, Best version of Lukin EVER.
@23:20, Ben Harper on Red Mosquito (another reason No Code is the best of Pearl Jam), fantastic.
@11:00 Jeff Ament destroying his bass.

Re: Teh Music Thread If you haven’t checked it out already, take a look at the new Haitian benefit song by Shane MacGowan and friends, a cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins “I Put A Spell On You”:
The line up includes:
Vocals: Shane MacGowan / Nick Cave / Bobby Gillespie / Glen Matlock / Chrissie Hynde / Paloma Faith / Eliza Doolittle
Guitar: James Walbourne / Mick Jones / Johnny Depp
Bass: Cait O’Riordan
Hammond organ/piano: Carwyn Ellis
Drums: Rob Walbourne
Fire Hydrant: Mick Jones
Good stuff. Paloma Faith has a set of pipes on her, and it was good to see Mick, Nick, Glen and the rest of the crew put together a first rate cover for a good cause.
Also enjoying the new Spoon album that dropped last month:
I’ve caught them the last few times they have been through the Fillmore, and their shows are always great. High energy, and hard rocking from start to finish, and worth a look if you are not going to the Pirate game that night.
Also going to catch Yo La Tengo next month at the Fillmore:
… I saw the great Richard Thompson Band at Great American Music Hall last week. He was recording for a live album, and played a set of 13 songs of all new material, pretty ballsy I thought. Then he came back out and did a set of familiar ones. Excellent. I'm enjoying the new Gorillaz, and Beck's version of Skip Spence's "Oar", which I got off a site Bong turned me on to (Never Get Out Of The Boat).
… listening to loads of 1977ish punk rock from the UK today. Clash, Buzzcocks, Stranglers, Damned and some LA stuff ala X, The Crowd, Screamers, Gun Club, etc. Bet most on here have never heard of most of those bands
Re: … Anyone catch Katy Perry's Unplugged running on Paladia?
I have to say, much better than expected. The songs are still silly, but her voice is lot better than I though it would be without all those pop-music effect. Her and Laday GaGa seem to be to two popstars who could really do anything. They are actually musicians. Weird, hu?
Oh, and she plays guitar. hot.

… Not so hip on most of the LA bands you mentioned Kenny, but down with all the UK ones. "Peaches" by Stranglers is my Saturday Morning wake-up song since about 1979
Re: Teh Music Thread I just got this on Amazon's mp3 site! I'm a huge Pogues/MacGowan and Nick Cave fan, so it was a must have, and it isn't bad. Good cause, too.
