Hitting +.310 at the moment, good arm, covers CF like no other.. Didn't he get picked up when he got dropped on waivers? Who was it for again?

Only if we kept Rajai
I'm not a big fan of, "hey this guy who I had no problem with losing a year ago has now put it together and is very productive so I'm pissed off about," but exactly why did we get rid of Rajai? Did he poop in the shower or something? He hit .282/.363 with 17 SB over just 142 AB after coming to SF in exchange for the prequel to Edgar Rentarrhea, which made Sabean look like he might actually have something left. He did a nice job in CF making a few highlight grabs.
I guess they signed Rowand, and thought Fred was well suited for LF, and of course Winn couldn't be tampered with in RF, so who needs a speedy guy with a good glove who knows how to take a walk and can actually use his speed to steal bases.
Seems to me Rajai's crime was not hacking enough coupled with a 1/18 to start the season that apparently Sabean just had no patience for.

Re: Only if we kept Rajai
This isn't really anything to complain about. Sabean has made plenty of mistakes, but who really saw Davis having a breakout season like he has this year? The guy was nothing special and the Giants had plenty of better options in the outfield.
Plus, I honestly don't see Davis keeping up this kind of production.

Yes you're correct he was nothing special with the Giants, but only Randy Winn in 2008 put up a better OBP or BA or SB total that Rajai in 142 games in 2007. So I'm not pissed that the Giants lost out on a great opportunity, it's that when faced with a decision to cut someone loose early in 2008, they chose the guy who had been one of the most productive players in the OF leading up to that decision.
I agree that Davis will probably never post a line again like he has this year, but why keep the guys they kept ahead of him? Becuase he had 18 bad AB to start 2008 after losing his job to an inferior (yeah, I know that's stretching it but in hindsight it debatable) player who got paid 10 times what Rajai made?

Only if we kept Rajai
I recall Rajai's play being very, VERY uneven. He'd hit about the Mendoza line, with no pop, for 3-4 weeks then he'd pick it up for a some weeks, then he'd be back hitting .200 or whatever. Yeah, he was a great base-stealer, but you have to get on base first, and he had a problem with that over any stretch of time. A guy who hits like crap for a month or two, then hits really well for a month or two, then sucks, then (etc.) isn't as useful as the averages over the year would seem. If he learned to hit, he did it after leaving the Giants.
But maybe I'm mis-remembering.

Re: Only if we kept Rajai
Can't believe you people are shatting your pants over RDavis.
Surely there are better issues to have w/ Sabean's clown-like moves the past few years.
