Hold off on the Crede rumors

It looks as if the White Sox are becoming underwhelmed with Brian Sabean's offerings. I don't like the man at all, but at least I give him credit for not buckling.

Acording to Jon Heyman's column:

The White Sox apparently haven't been enamored by what the Giants have to offer for third baseman Joe Crede. A Giants person conceded, "We badly need bats,'' but they aren't to the point where they'll give up any of their better pitchers to get them. One possibility could be hard-throwing reliever Jonathan Sanchez, though it appears now that Crede may not be traded until closer to this summer's deadline.

Translation for those who cannot read between the lines: The White Sux want Matt Cain in a deal for Crede, and now that Lowry is not tradeable, Sabean is offering Sanchez or Correia instead. The Sux are not biting.

If I were forced to further read between the lines, I would say that it looks like SHK gets his wish. The mighty Kevin Frandsen and Ay-You-Heen-EE-Oh Velez will probably both earn roster spots and will split time at third and second with Aurilia and Durham.

I doubt the Sox are holding out for Cain.

The article says possibly Sanchez. My take it that Giants are offering prospects or Threets/Lewis type trade.

I hit up Tim on mlbtraderumors. He said NO chance of Cain or Lincecum.

I don't want to see the Giants give up Sanchez for a one year rental on Crede. A bullpen arm or two okay but not for a left handed potential starter like Sanchez.

Now if I could trade Sanchez for Edwin Encarnacion or for Josh Fields, then fine but not for Crede even if he has the "warrior spirit". LOL

Just sayin'

Dude, Jon Sanchez is not going to land Edwin Encarnacion, unless you convince Tim Lincecum or Matt Cain to change their name to Jonathan Sanchez.

And the only reason I don't ding you on your terminology (i.e., calling Sanchez a potential starter) is because the rotation is suddenly as frag-eelie as the bullpen. (That rotation must be Italian).

With Lowry out, Correia looking like he's throwing batting practice and Hennessey unable to transition back from his bullpen role, Sanchez might yet become necessary to the survival of the Giants this season.

But let's not overstate his value. Sanchez is 25 and has yet to prove that he can become a full-time starter. He has solid stuff, but less than spectacular control. His value around the league is as a middle reliever and the player he brings back in trade if he were to go will be according to that value.

I don't know how I'm going to handle it if we're not even competitive. I mean, seriously. First ulsers, then shouting matches with teh plasma, then the worst; indifference.

We've gotten SCHOOLED so far.

44 Runs scored, 81 runs allowed. In 9 games.

That's an average of 5 runs scored, 9 allowed. The 5 runs scored sounds great, but it doesn't really matter when you give up nearly twice as many.
