Does the future look dreary?

I think the future looks brighter than it did, say, a year ago at this time. Even if I'm not the biggest JaMarcus Russell fan, I like what they did in the draft offensively. They didn't need to do much defensively. This has quickly become one of the youngest teams in the league.

I disagree.

Russell does have bigger upside but he's more of a risk. Some teams were afraid that Russell could eat himself out of football. I think Quinn dropped because guys on ESPN, Fox Sports, several scouts, etc. nitpicked his game so damn much.

See Leinart, Matt.

Do you think Russell is the 2nd coming of Daunte Culpepper?

Should be interesting to see how the WR position plays out. I'm curious to see if Mike Williams steps up his game.

I see a lot in common when I look at the 2.

The size is probably the first thing you look at, the rocket arm, downfield accuracy, and questionable accuracy/decision making in the intermediate passing game. Culpepper was a better athlete/runner coming out imo. Russell can move around but he's not as fast as Culpepper was.

Lane Kiffin knows a ton about Mike Williams, so acquiring him when no one really wanted to could say something. I still question if Williams is fast enough but he could be a big time redzone target.

I think Williams gets around 10 TDs this year. He was just misused in Detroit, as is most of that team.

I don't know if he gets enough playing time to get that much(looks like the starters will be Porter and Curry). It all depends if his head is in it or not. He could end up as the 3rd WR.

It should be interesting to see how well they do this year. They may surprise people, but I think it's still a work in progress

A day late but whatever.

Raiders signed veteran strong safety Donovin Darius.
